Racheal L. Whitaker, M.D.

Dr. Racheal L. Whitaker is a Board Certified Obstetrician/Gynecologist who was born in Shreveport, Louisiana.  Dr. Whitaker completed her undergraduate studies in Biology at Dillard University in New Orleans, Louisiana.  She then moved to Nashville, Tennessee where she received her doctorate of medicine at Meharry Medical College.  While at Meharry, Dr. Whitaker was inducted into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.  Dr. Whitaker returned to New Orleans where she completed her internship and residency training at Ochsner Medical Center.  At Ochsner, Dr. Whitaker served as Executive Chief Resident.

Dr. Whitaker returned to Shreveport in 2006 as a full time Assistant Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center for two years before entering private practice.  Because of her passion for educating residents and medical students, she continued her role at the university as gratis faculty.  Dr. Whitaker’s training and experience has allowed her to comfortably care for women of all ages – from adolescents to the geriatric patient.  She cares for high risk pregnancies including twin gestation and patients who desire vaginal birth after Cesarean section (VBAC).  She has been trained in minimally invasive surgery and continues to be a student, always learning new cutting edge surgical techniques and continuing to be updated on the ever changing world of medical advances.

Dr. Whitaker is passionate about health education in women and adolescent health.  She believes that a good doctor patient relationship wherein the patient plays an active role in her care is invaluable and should be handled with care.  She believes in empowering the total woman – mind, body, and soul.
